Gender Bias & Women

Image
Happy Monday! As many of you know, I have put out several posts on ethnic issues. On my post “We The People,” it was brought to my attention that I have left out women’s issues. I said I would address it in a later post. So here it is. I have also created my own blog expandyourconciousness.blogspot.com that has a record of everything I have posted. I welcome healthy dialogue on everything I post and hope that you like and share if you feel that the subjects have merit. It is my hope that these posts create a call to action for our citizens to create needed change in a positive and nonviolent manner. Here is the  YouTube link,  Peace Carlton

WE THE PEOPLE

We The People   If you are a citizen of the Unites States, you have a dilemma Because you talk about equality and freedoms. How do you reconcile that the founding fathers, Washington and Jefferson, two of the earliest and revered Presidents as slave owners? How does one reconcile owning a slave is OK when espousing freedom? How does one reconcile all of the African American military units from the XXV Corps on serving as  segregated  units for this country the home of the free? How do we reconcile that we recognized Native American Tribes as sovereign nations? Then turn around and remove them from their homes and relocate them to areas we deemed unlivable to most Give them smallpox infected blankets Take their children away and put them in schools to teach them to be white, forget their language, their heritage, their ancestors, their religious beliefs. How do you reconcile that the Navaho’s were the ones responsible for successes in the Pacific because the Japanese couldn’t break the

I’m Multi-Ethnic   I’m not white enough I’m not Japanese enough I’m not Cherokee enough I’m not English enough I’m not Irish enough I’m not Scottish enough I don’t fit in We talk of equality But what about me? What about the one who’s ethnically mixed I’m a mutt I’m a ghost I’m told to Just accept it So, what’s going on? What’s the real truth? We talk about racial equality There are no equals here I grew up in fear Never knowing when I was going to get beaten on, attacked, insulted, or bullied Who did I have to go to for support and solace? I had no community because I’m not  White enough Japanese enough Indian enough English enough Irish enough Scottish enough Who was and is there for me? Nary did it happen, and it was out of pity I don’t want to be pitied I want to be accepted as I am with all of my ethnicities Here I am in life still dealing with all of this The message I hear is we want to have racial equality Racial equality is If you’re White, you want to be treated equal If you’

THIS IS MY TRUTH

The incidents that started the “Black Lives Matter” protests have affected me because it has raised many of my PTSD incidents and feelings as a multi-ethnic person.  I am not trying to attach myself to the movement or trying to make equal comparisons. I have feared for my life and safety but not to what the African Americans have had to face for centuries. I want you to understand what those of mixed race/ethnicities experience, go through and navigate in their lives.   This is my TRUTH   I am a post WWII baby of Japanese, English, Scottish, Irish and Cherokee descent. I was born 1953 in Fukuoka, Japan, birthplace of my mother, grandparents and other relatives. My mother and I are 1 st  generation Japanese and I am a naturalized citizen. I am also known as a military brat. I really don’t know why the term “brat” was originated but that’s what it is. As a military dependent, I moved constantly and lived throughout the South in my early years where I was subjected to getting beaten u
